YBLalat's Current Musical Fetish: College-flavored Experimental Rock
It is fairly obvious from the following list that my taste in music is very eclectic and rare. From the ambience sounds of Mogwai to the moans and grunts of PJ Harvey, generally I don't discriminate my music. But I do have one sheer rule of hatred: radio-candy pop music sing-a-long. I have a deep sense of awe and appreciation for singer-songwriters, may they be in a band or a solo artist, as long as they write their own shit, I'll dig into it. I stopped listening to long-haired glamour rock long ago, way back in high school, although it is quite humiliating to admit that the first album that I bought when I was ten was a Scorpions' Greatest Hits album. Listening to college rock selections is a great thrill - now I know why cult-classic, famously-unknown music magazines like Spin, NME and CMJ are what they are. They listen to great music that no one in the business knows about.
