Cell Phones Rang Unanswered on the Bodies of the Dead… is a compilation of short stories and fictions that follows in the tradition of The Lips that She Kisses Her Children to Bed With… (published: August 19th, 2003); but whereas The Lips toys playfully with the theme of struggle between one’s love and lust, Cell Phones Rang is held together by the theme of personal and general insecurity, which provides its stories an overall bleak undertone and an apocalyptic view. Materials written for this compilation were gathered from the period of the immediate post-9/11 days to the final days leading to the author’s job interview with his academic sponsor, Petronas. An A-side from this compilation, titled Such Fine Weather for an Airstrike, was published independently as an entry single on April 23rd, 2004, to set the page’s tone for what is to come.
